According to our sources in collaboration with HLTV, Justin "jks" Savage is set to be benched from G2 Esports after more than a year with the team. Nemanja "nexa" Isaković is being considered to take his place and make a comeback in the European team.
Despite being ranked as the world's #1 team on HLTV just a week ago, G2 Esports is experiencing a hectic transfer window. Their superstar Nikola "NiKo" Kovač was on his way out, with Falcons and G2 having agreed on the transfer fee and the player ready to leave.
He eventually decided to change his mind and stay with G2. The main reason seems to be that the Saudi organization is unlikely to have a very busy 2024 competitively and is likely to miss out on a good number of major tournaments, as it has no slots in BLAST and ESL, and the youth of this future team will prevent it from getting invitations. With NiKo's non-departure, the door has also been closed for sniper Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, who should stay with G2 for 2024.
According to our sources in collaboration with HLTV, change is still to come with the removal of Justin "jks" Savage. The Australian arrived in August 2022 after a spell with Complexity, and has enjoyed some great moments with G2, including victories in Cologne and Katowice in 2023, and the BLAST World final in 2022.
To replace him, the name of Nemanja "nexa" Isaković is being mentioned, with the latter not expected to extend his contract with OG and possibly wearing the G2 jersey again, where he played between 2019 until the end of 2021. He could therefore return to a purely rifle role without having to lead and would be reunited with his long-time partner, Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač, but also with Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, with whom he played at G2. However, nothing has been signed or decided yet.
Should this move come to fruition, G2 Esports could look like:
Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov
Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen
Nemanja "nexa" Isaković
Jan "Swani" Müller (coach)
