According to our sources, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač has finally refused to join Falcons, even though the Saudi organization and G2 Esports had agreed on the Bosnian player's transfer.
Four days ago, we reported that Nikola "NiKo" Kovač would be signing for Falcons, the two organizations having agreed on the player's transfer. A multi-million dollar transfer corresponding to his buyout. G2 Esports would subsequently have already started looking for his successor.
But according to our sources, an unexpected change has put an end to this episode. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač has apparently turned down Falcons' offer. He would like to stay with G2 Esports, where Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov is also expected to continue playing.
A major blow for Falcons and their coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen, as 4 players were benched by the Saudi organization yesterday. With Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas as the remaining player, and the probable arrivals of Emil "Magisk" Reif and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer, two important positions remain to be filled, including the sniper.
Several names have been discussed for this position, including Alvaro "SunPayus" Garcia and Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov, two of the hottest awpers on the scene, but nothing has yet been agreed or signed. There's no doubt that NiKo's refusal could change things for the Danish coach, who has work to do to create a contender team from scratch.
